So, the mod bug has hit after a year of ownership. I need a wheel that’s lightweight, but has some style to it. The wheel that I keep coming back to is the RPF1, but am I missing anything else?
Here’s what I need;
5x114.3 bolt pattern
35-45 offset
17 or 18 with a 7.5-8.5 width
under 1200, maybe 1500 for 4 wheels

Yes, rpf1s. It’s near impossible to get lighter and higher quality for cheaper.

Not sure on weight. But I’ve always liked Volk re30's

Enkei really is a great compromise between price and style. Other Enkei Racing designs (I’m thinking the PF01 specifically) offer similar prices and weights, though I believe the RPF1 is the lightest.
I put Kosei wheels on my BMW, they’re also fairly light and fairly cheap. I was looking for the mesh look, so I bought K8Rs.

I’m probably going to get OZ Alleggeritas for my MR2. They’re more expensive and a touch lighter than the RPF1s, but should still be within budget.

I can’t recommend anything in particular, but I’ve always been partial to 5 spoke, simple designs. And no chrome - ‘97 SHO had otherwise very nice chrome wheels.

Look at options from Apex Racing wheels. For the size range you want they’ll be way under 20 lbs each. You’ll also find a lot of group buys on them since they’re such a popular design and proven track wheel.

What car would this be going on?

I get why everyone buys the RPF1s, but I HATE those wheels.
I think they are actually very boring style wise, would be a huge PIA to clean, and to me are not even remotely good looking. And since nearly everyone has them, I am bound to find something else when I can finally get an extra set of wheels for my GTI.

spun aluminum wheels
this was just an excuse to post pics

Check out Advanti DST wheels. They’re made using the same flow forming process, licensed from Enkei. I just got some for my car. 19x8.5 fronts and 19x9.5 rears are both under 22 lbs each.

For a g35 sedan? Do you have the Rays forged wheels?

haha I was actually considering a set when I had a GTI, but then DSG issues and yeah, it was gone before I ordered wheels.

this was a strong contender simply for the weight but I'm not a fan of the thin spokes

Totallt forgot about kosei, my friend had a set on his e30 and they were super light.

nope, it has the ugly 17's unfortunately.

stock as of now, but it'll be lowered maybe an inch soon.

Dam...the Rays look better than rpf1's imo

Cast or forged?
![]() 06/10/2016 at 16:59 |

trust me, I know. but finding a set that isn't curbed to hell for a reasonable price near me has been impossible.

Fair enough. Now that I know it’s a G35, I don’t think they would suit it to be honest, since the spokes don’t extend until the edge and the wheel appears smaller than it is (which is a good thing for the MR2, since I’m sizing up to 17" in the rear, and it would look like a rollerskate if the wheel is visibly large).
If you’re going for the RPF01s, be sure to look for pictures of the exact size you’re going to get. I seem to remember from some discussions on one of the Miata forums that it’s only the wider wheels with lower offset that have the characteristic flat face, while on the other ones the spokes bend outward a bit.
Other recommendations: everything from the Work Emotion line and the rotary forged ones from TSW. Wedssport might also have a couple of ‘budget’ (as in rotary forged instead of forged) options in the correct size.

cast would be the budget friendly option. but if there’s a forged set in that price range, I'd be interested.

If you’re willing to accept Cast wheels, I recommend either the Enkei PF07 (top) or the Fifteen52 Tarmac (bottom). The Tarmac is more expensive, but quite strong (they’re what Ken Block used in Gymkhana 5 when he was going off the jumps in San Fran.) I feel that either would suit a G35 sedan better than RPF1s.

I’ve got those Enkei’s and getting bored of them, here’s a nice lightweight and cheap solution (dunno if you get them in the states though?)
Fox FX005

What color is your car? I was bored so I edited some wheels onto it.
